“I’m doing this today to show that I am dead to my old self and am now alive in Christ.” – Loryn, current Mercy Ministries resident
On Friday, June 26th, 21 residents of our California Mercy home were water baptized! This was a special event for all in attendance and a touching celebration of the new life in Christ these young women have received.
“I want to show publicly that I am no longer a slave to sin but a servant of Jesus; this choice today is my decision to serve Him the rest of life.” – Lenzie, current Mercy resident
“I want to publicly say today that I have renounced my old life, and I am moving forward into the new life Jesus died to give to me.” – Emily, current Mercy resident
“Today, I want to publicly proclaim that I choose for myself to be baptized into new life with Jesus Christ because I love Him and I want the world to know it.” – Kayla, current Mercy resident
|Residents even had a cake to mark this special occasion|
Residents were baptized at a private residence by the Program Director of our Mercy home in California, Karyn Dirkse, and her husband, Rob. After each girl came up out of the water, Rob led staff and residents in cheering and shouting to let the neighborhood know there was cause for celebration! Staff members and their spouses prepared a wonderful cookout meal that everyone enjoyed afterwards.
We thank God for this amazing day and for the transforming work He has done in these girls’ lives!
