Victoria McCarter and her family along with a team of volunteers treated St. Louis residents with love this past weekend for the annual Valentine’s Day special dinner and event. Victoria and her husband, Illinois State Senator Kyle McCarter, serve on the Community Board in St. Louis and have been wonderful long-time Mercy supporters and friends.

Victoria is also a huddle coach for Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), and she brought her students along for the party to serve and bless the girls. All the volunteers dressed in black and white as they prepared a delicious home-cooked Italian meal and waited on the girls all night long. They also prepared various sweet treats drenched in chocolate from the chocolate fountain. That was a huge hit!

The highlight of the night was when the St. Louis residents made beautiful beaded necklaces with Pastor Margie Hufton. These special pieces of jewelry will be taken by Victoria to Africa on an upcoming mission trip to give away to the women and children they meet on the mission field.

“I had never really experienced what it’s like to truly feel special on Valentine’s Day and Victoria McCarter and the FCA students did just that! It made me want to cry and smile all at the same time. Their willingness to serve and show love to all of us at Mercy left an imprint on my heart! …..Love is something that hasn’t come easy for me and to receive love from complete strangers like they showed gave me a glimpse of what love looks like and how special I am.”
-Katie, Current St. Louis Resident

“The Valentine’s party we had was such an amazing expression of love… They (the volunteers) reminded me that each one of us is important to God and others and that I am loved more than words could say. I was blessed beyond words. God’s love poured through all of them.”
-Jessie, Current St. Louis Resident

“From the beautiful table arrangements to the delicious three course meal, I truly felt like I was at an expensive, fancy restaurant. I am so grateful... They made my Valentine’s day so memorable!” Britney, Current St. Louis Resident

We want to thank Victoria and all of the volunteers for investing their time and energy to make our girls feel like princesses!
